Mary Frances Pittenger, 89, of Decatur passed away Tuesday June 21, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral mass to celebrate Mary’s life will be 11:15 a.m. Friday June 24, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Jeff Grant as celebrant. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the start of mass on Friday. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood St. Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Mary was born on July 9, 1921 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Lithuanian immigrant parents Andrew Skrelevicus (Skrele) and Mary Siminauch. She married Wayne B. Pittenger on December 5, 1941 and he preceded her in death in September of 1986. Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital and a big Lakeview High School sports fan.
Mary is survived by her son Bob Pittenger and wife Kay of Decatur; grandchildren: Wayne Pittenger and wife Marsha of Decatur, John Pittenger and wife Debbie of DeWitt, Kelly Walker and husband Jeff of Decatur, Andrew Pittenger and wife Laura of Dwight, David Pittenger of Decatur and Crystal Pittenger of Anaheim, CA; three great grandchildren also survive.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, two sons David and Wayne, two sisters and one brother.
